How to Use Deep Sky Stack on Seestar

    Deep-sky stacking is a process that combines multiple individual frames of a deep-sky object after capture. This stacking process significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in a much clearer final image.

    To use this feature, navigate to the Seestar Gallery. Please ensure your Seestar is powered on and connected to the app beforehand.

    1. How to Use Deep Sky Stack

    1. Click "Deep Sky Stack" on the homepage to enter the function, then tap "Add Images".

    1. Enter the deep sky images and select the deep sky target you want to overlay. After entering the target folder, select multiple images.

    When selecting images, try to pick frames that are not overexposed, contain the full target, and are free from obstructions, star trailing, airplane trails, or satellite streaks. After selecting, click "OK".

    1. After clicking "OK", preview the selected images. You can click the "Edit" button in the upper right corner to filter images again.

    Note: Only one deep sky target can be selected for each stack. To select other targets, clear the current images first using the "Edit" button.

    1. Once images are confirmed, click the "Stack" button to start deep sky overlay.
    2. After stacking completes successfully, click "Check now" to view the final image.

    If stacking fails, the last selected image will still be displayed. You can filter qualified images and try stacking again.

    2. Why Stacked Images May Appear Rotated

    You may notice that the stacked deep-sky image and the real-time enhanced image appear rotated in different directions. This is normal and does not affect the final image quality.

    What Causes This Rotation?

    • Real-time enhancement aligns all frames to the first sub-exposure.
    • Deep-sky stacking aligns frames to the last sub-exposure.
    • Due to Earth's rotation, the alignment order is reversed, creating the appearance of rotation.
