How to Use Seestar Video Stack for Lunar & Planetary Astrophotography
In astrophotography, single video frames often contain heavy noise and insufficient celestial details. The Video Stack function solves this issue by merging hundreds or thousands of frames together. It greatly lifts the signal-to-noise ratio, restores subtle surface textures, and delivers sharper, cleaner planetary/lunar photos.
Step-by-Step Guide to Seestar Video Stack
Preparation Note: Power on your Seestar and connect it to the Seestar App. The Video Stack function is located inside My Album.
- On the App homepage, enter My Album → Solar System Album. Locate your video files marked with the "_video" suffix.
- Open the video you plan to stack. Important Restriction: Video Stack only works for footage recorded with RAW format turned on.
- On the video preview page, tap the Stack button in the top-right corner.
Seestar will automatically align and stack all frames in the video. The processing time depends on video length, please wait patiently.
- Once stacking finishes, tap Check now. A high-detail, low-noise static stacked image will be generated and auto-saved to the same folder as the source video.
Key Usage Tips
- Video Stack is optimized for bright Solar System objects including the Moon, planets and the Sun when shooting in Solar System Mode. Always enable RAW format before recording to retain maximum surface details.
- For ideal stacking output, keep video clips short (about 10 seconds).
- Stable tracking during recording is essential. Camera shake or vibration will create blurriness that stacking cannot eliminate.
