How to Add Custom Celestial Objects in the Seestar App

Table of Contents

The built-in object catalog doesn't include every possible target in the vast night sky.

For these, use the Custom Celestial Objects feature:

Just enter the target's Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (Dec), and Seestar will GoTo your coordinates.

    Step 1 : Open SkyAtlas

Open the Seestar App, tap the "SkyAtlas" button in the bottom menu.

Step 2: Open the Objects Library

On the Star Map page, tap the "Objects" Library button in the top right corner.

Scroll to the bottom of the catalog to find "My Favorites", then tap the "More" button to open the detail page.

Step 3: Create a Custom Object

On the My Favorites page, tap “Customize” in the top-right corner to add a new custom celestial object.

Step 4: Enter the Object Coordinates

Enter the object name, Right Ascension (RA), and Declination (Dec). After checking the information, tap “Add” to save the object.

Step 5: View or Delete a Custom Object

Once added, your custom objects can be viewed under "My Favorites" list. Swipe left to delete an object. Tap on an object to view its coordinates and altitude information.

    Tips:

Avoid giving your custom objects the exact same names as those in the built-in catalog.  Duplicate names may make it harder to identify the correct target during GoTo.
